The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has announced significant updates for foreign graduates and skilled professionals who apply for Canada PR. The Canadian government has officially allocated 1,254 additional nominations to the BC PNP.

With this recent addition, the total nominations for 2025 now stand at 5,254, reflecting a partial recovery from last year’s reduced cap of 4,000. This increase brings the program closer to meeting 69% of its 2025 allocation of 8,000 nomination slots.

Announced on October 2, 2025, this development directly supports British Columbia’s efforts to address labour shortages and fuel economic growth. As a result, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) reopens pathways for international post-graduates and skilled workers who have been on the waiting list since last year.

How does British Columbia Use These Additional Allocations?

  • In 2024, the British Columbia PNP program received a large number of applications from International Post-graduate students. But the allocated capacity was low. Therefore, they can process the applications received between September 2024 and January 2025.
  • The allocation of 1,254 additional nominations will allow British Columbia to restart processing the waitlisted IPG applications.
  • Beyond clearing the existing backlog, British Columbia will allocate the additional nominations to its established priority sectors: Healthcare professionals, Entrepreneurs, and other high-impact skilled workers.
  • The province has indicated that it will not expand to new priority areas in 2025 unless it receives further nomination allocations.

What does this BC PNP Additional Allocation Mean?

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has an additional allocation, which means the Government of Canada has more invitations for permanent residence. This additional allocation of 1,254 can allow the BC province to proceed with the wait-listed applications.

These additional nominations are a response to the province’s economic needs, providing more opportunities for foreign nationals to immigrate to British Columbia.
