When she arrived in the U.S. at age nine, she made herself a quiet promise: to get an education and build a future of her own choosing. Even when life tried to steer her back toward tradition, Jeanette found the strength to reclaim her path\u2014and become the woman she was always meant to be.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\">[embedded content]<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This story was shared on stage as part of The Immigrant Story Live, a signature production of the award-winning nonprofit, The Immigrant Story.
